welcome to a new kind of tension

American Idiot

Anyone who knows me knows that I am an avid fan of Broadway musicals, and an even more avid fan of rock music, especially Green Day.
When I went to New York, naturally, I went to see their musical American Idiot.
I saw it closing weekend while BILLE JOE ARMSTRONG (the lead singer of Green Day, in case you didn't know) was playing the role of St. Jimmy.

The show was at the St. James Theater (fitting right?)
The entire atmosphere, with the fans, and Phantom playing across the street, was amazing.

Oh, yes.  Before the show, there was a mariachi band playing outside.
Why?  Because they can.

Inside the theater, messages to Green Day and the cast.

Though, thanks to the efforts of the NYPD, I did not get to meet Billie Joe, I had an amazing time at the show.
The music, set, lighting, and everything about it were amazing-above all expectation.
It is really a fantastic show for both Green Day fans, and otherwise.
I definitely suggest checking it out if it comes to a town near you.

A Pretty Shabby Apple

This great online store carries wonderfully made clothes in various styles and prices.
A main goal of the store is to find a look the is right for you.
The site includes a Fit To Flatter guide where you answer a few questions and the Shabby Apple team tells you what your body type is.

According to the guide, I have a hourglass body-type.
They also give you a few suggestions on how to best dress for your body.

Shabby Apple carries fits for all figures as well as gorgeous accessories and shoes.

I'm already a big fan of this store, and I definitely suggest it to anyone looking for a fresh place to find gorgeous, vintage-inspired clothes.

drop it low, spread it wide.

It's PROM ya'll

It all starts out with everyone rushing to get ready.
Your date picks you up, and of course he forgot the corsage.
Everyone meets for pictures, innocent enough.

Then, the parents leave.
We, of course, take more pictures, crank up the jams in the car, and head to dinner.
Food, convesation, and an over-all good time.

It gets close to time for the actual prom to start, but who wants to be there on time?
Not you.
So, as to arrive fashionbly late, you take a trip to the park, wander around, and talk with your group some more.

Then, to the DANCE!
You shake it up with your fantastic date and all your friends.
You get super sweaty, but it doesn't matter.
Your hair and make up that you spent hours fixing is destroyed, but it doesn't matter.
Prom happens.

Finally, a round of late-night mini golf, failed attempts at the batting cages, and a feast at Waffle House-you are done with prom.
Your group heads their separate ways, to remove make-up, rip out bobby pins, and pass out where ever they land.

That, my friends, is prom.

words get trapped in my mind

So, I went to New York City.  I saw and did many amazing things.
I would like to show you pitures.

The single peppiest, friendliest, and most doped-up street performer I have personally met.
He played the violin like a mother-effer.
